Ahí se creó el primer museo de arte que lleva por nombre "Hermila Domínguez". Contiene obra de artsitas locales y nacionales. Todavía hoy, la capital de Chiapas no cuenta con un espacio formal para las artes con la calidad de un museo, Comitán sí. Y San Cristóbal, considerada como la capital cultural de Chiapas, apenas cuenta con espacios alternativos y un museo independiente, pero Comitán se les anticipó. Así sucede.
En este contexto, y con el apoyo del Coneculta-Chiapas, Rafael Araujo inició un curso sobre promoción y apreciación de las artes visuales. Los asistentes, como en pocas ocasiones, es participativo y con deseo grande por desarrollarse en el campo de las artes. Los primeros resultados han sido bueno ya que los asistentes han iniciado a reconocer parte del proceso de apreciación a partir de dos premisas: la generación de emociones y de ideas a partir de las obras de arte. En junio, se desarrollará la temática de la apreciación a partir de elementos sociales que condicionan la interpretación de los estímulos que las obras emiten y, el público comprenderá que las disciplinas construyen un lenguaje específico que incide en la estimulación del espectador.
